I agree with the idea of buying as much time as you can, with the plan to move out when you feel confident, but don't get baptised, remember while unbaptised you are untouchable. Can I just say that I think you're very brave and smart, brave cos most youngsters don't have to deal with this cultic behaviour and smart because many on this site wasted decades in this cult(myself included) but you won't!

Good on her for fighting them, hope they are made to pay. The Borg admitted their procedures are illegal in the ARC. There was a good point on here the other day- if one of these elduhs had their wallet pinched they'd go straight to the police, 2 witnesses or not! Not if a child is raped though...on no that's different... -

The revolting morality underpinning martyrdom.
by Island Man inthe three hebrew boys chose death over bowing down to lifeless idols.
early christians refused to sacrifice to the emperor's genious.
jws in nazi germany refused to sign a document that will result in their release or spare them from execution.

I explained to my Borg sister recently that I have never felt better, the headaches which I had been suffering with for a few years have completely stopped, as- in my opinion- the stress of being in a control group that I knew was false- has evaporated away.
She said 'you might feel better but that's because you've stopped enduring'
Lol
They actually think God wants them to live tiring and stressful lives.

as a witness we all thought they were weird.

I think they are as bad as each other, they only encourage higher education so they can collect their 10℅ tax -for life. -

I once had a bible student whom had previously been a Mormon (investigator)- student. He had decided that he didn't believe teachings such as- Mormons will one day be a God over their own worlds, so he ceased having an interest with the group. -the Mormons shunned him.
I have also met other excommunicated Mormons whose family have cut them off.

yes i have my truth, thanks.. the elder in question said " well time will tell ?
"and i said yes it has hasn't it, but we aren't in competition..

I left the borg just 8 months ago and was traumatised and low in confidence. That is changing as I discover my individuality but its great to hear from people like yourself, whom have tread on this road and are happier and confident. They expect exborg to be miserable and shattered. My entire intellectual intuition was telling me this can't be the truth, and I recognised WT material was using unethical psychological manipulation on members and that led me out, still JWfacts was so important for me as it maps out why it can't be truth- it uses WT publications to destroy the concept of WT being the true religion. Thanks Paul! -

Would I lie to you?
by slimboyfat ingiven recent posts on the forum and discussion, maybe we could play this game: would i lie to you?
in the uk we have this tv programme where minor celebrities tell weird or embarrassing stories about themselves and the rest of the participants have to guess if it is a true story or made up.
when the others have voted then the person reveals if the story is true or false.

1. I was dining with the CO at my parents house, after the food was eaten the CO asked where the restroom was. A few minutes passed and I was sat alone in the lounge as the CO enters. 'Did you find it?' I asked. The CO looks at me in utter horror and disgust! It took me 10 minutes to realise why-i wasn't that quick in those days.
2. No I can't think of a lie...just not good at this game. Above story is true.

Are JW's allowed to have close non JW friends?
by 007DB1 ini am a non-participating christian who is fully respectful of but never had anything to do with jw.. i have a jw friend who seems to closely follow his jw belief's.
i have met most of his family and friends who all are also jw's.
he says i am his only non-jw good friend.. he is getting married this year to his long time gf and with our recent growing more guarded and distant friendship, i am wondering what is going on?.

It is unusual for a JW to become a close friend with a 'worldly' person. And that is how every person outside the religion is referred to. Perhaps you expressed an interest in his beliefs in the past? That is the main motive I can think of for him drawing close to you.
The JW movement is often described as totalizing, they believe they and they alone serve God and that everyone outside the religion is influenced by Satan and will shortly be killed by God at Armageddon. Hence the world to a JW is a dark and dangerous place and they are not to make friends with 'worldly people'.

I remember thinking as you do. I also was quite happy with good people around me. What changed it for me was thinking of the future. I knew by staying in i would be handing a future of broken families, being the outcast at school, possible blood related issues...etc to my children and my children's children...once i was awake to the truth about the truth it was simply a matter of courage. The courage to change my life. JWs call leavers 'weak'- that couldnt be further from the truth. It takes stregnth. Now i have found a much greater happiness in life.
Great to hear from you. Welcome.
